Journal Ideas
Here are some types of Journals you might be interesting in adding to your daily life:
Verse-by-Verse Study Journal – write down your thoughts and questions as you read one verse each day
Sermon Notes or Bible Study Notebooks – many bible study books have questions for you to answer about certain topics or books of the Bible
Prayer Journals for family and friends – organize this however it is easiest for you to use
- Some people organize this with Praises, Confessions, Thanks, and Requests.
- Another has one request for each day of the month.
- I have mine organized by family member. The first page for each person is requests that will always be there (for example: my son will always have the request to have a personal relationship with Jesus, so it is on the first page). The following pages are ones that are applicable at that time (i.e. potty training – its been on there a while, but hopefully it will be answered soon). When the prayer is answered I use smiley faces/frowns to record how it was answered and sometimes I make notes about the answer. (Nichole’s Favorite)
Answers to Prayers Journal – write down any time a prayer is answered. This is great to go back and read again and again for encouragement and to see how God works.
Prayer Journals for a specific event – These can be for yourself or a loved one. Examples of events: missions trip, battle with sickness, trials, college, etc. If it is for someone else I have heard of people who give the journal to the person after the event. How cool is that!
Scripture, Quotes, Clippings and Poetry – collect and write down (or scrapbook) different things that hold a special meaning to you. (Kelli’s favorite)
Letters to your children, accounts of their life, their quotes – this could be done in an actual journal or online in a blog type fashion
Diaries – probably the most familiar, documenting your activities and feelings on a regular basis
